Aloïse Corbaz

Aloïse Corbaz studied up to Baccalaureate level before emigrating to Germany in 1911 to work as a governess at the court of Emperor Wilhelm II. When war was declared she had to return to Switzerland where she began to develop behavioural disorders. Confined from 1918 until her death, she expressed herself through writing and drawing. She transfigures in her works of marvellous poetry “the natural world of the old days”.
