Exhibitions
Vassily Kandinsky and the images
→ 20.02 - 14.06.26
Presented in partnership with the Centre Pompidou, this exhibition will explore a little-known aspect of the artist's work: his relationship with images. An abstract painter drawn to the spiritual and the invisible world, he had a strong connection with photographic images, scientific publications and press illustrations, sources of reflection and research tools that nourished his visual thinking throughout his life. Through the role of images, the exhibition invites visitors to retrace the career of this visionary artist and uncover the inspirations behind his iconic works.
With over 150 works from the Centre Pompidou collection and other European collections, both private and public, the exhibition will offer visitors an opportunity to reconsider the importance of images in the work of one of the founders of abstraction. Numerous works by artists close to Kandinsky will also be on display, including Joan Miró, Gabriele Münter, Franz Marc, Oskar Kokoscha, and others.
Obsession, a thematic tour of the collection
→ From 20.02.26
What if obsession revealed the driving forces behind artistic creation? Through a thematic exhibition in the form of an alphabetical guide, the LaM offers a reinterpretation of its collection, highlighting the recurring motifs that haunt or liberate artists. The exhibition explores figures such as Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Louise Bourgeois and Daniel Buren in depth, while showcasing recent acquisitions and major installations from its collection.
