Exhibition

Limit-states

From 17 September
to 12 December 2025

Limit-sates explores the theme of catastrophe in its etymological sense—the brutal or irreversible reversal of a situation—observed through the lens of material transformations.

The work of Christine Deknuydt occupies a central place: this Dunkirk-based artist has created a series of drawings conceived as applied chemistry manipulations. These works interact with the scientific and technical collections of the University of Lille and two installations by Dennis Oppenheim and Fabrizio Plessi that question the modes of interaction between humanity and the planet it occupies.

This exhibition, conceived and co-produced by the University of Lille and the LaM, is the result of close collaboration between the museum's staff, faculty, the University's Culture Department, and the students who participated in its creation.

Featuring works by Christine Deknuydt, Dennis Oppenheim, and Fabrizio Plessi.
