For its reopening, the LaM is rethinking the display of its collection with a new, original thematic exhibition entitled Obsession

Conceived as an exhibition, it explores repetition, permanence and creative intensity throughout the 20th and 21st centuries through an unprecedented dialogue between modern art, outsider art and contemporary art.

Some monographic rooms dedicated to major figures in art, such as Amedeo Modigliani, Henry Darger and Miriam Cahn, alternate with themed spaces offering a lively and fresh reinterpretation of the collection.

To enrich this experience, exceptional pieces from the Centre national des arts plastiques (Cnap) and recent acquisitions, such as a rare drawing by Amedeo Modigliani, punctuate the exhibition, creating new connections and unexpected dialogues.

Part 2 (open to the public on June 13)

The second part of this course, presented in the building designed by Manuelle Gautrand, is mainly devoted to raw art, it will develop the theme of obsession through several axes, such as ritual, automatic writing, spiritualism, surveying, the garden or inventors. You can find a monographic collection of works by Auguste Forestier, spiritualist artists, totems by Théo Wiesen, but also other major works from the museum's collection.
